Hide and Seek

After a super long break 3rd year is finally here (ou er!) So I thought I'd upload some illustrations from the summer, heres a few from a little story about Fox and his forest friends. They're playing a quick game of hide and seek, as of course, animals do... I really enjoyed using such a wacky palette on these pictures, I think this term might just have to be about colour colour colour!

Bologna Book Fair

Hello Bloggers! Last week I went to my first ever book fair. For some reason I decided to jump in at the deep end and went to the ginormous Bologna Book Fair , no really, it was genuinely huge. Prepare yourself for a monster post... It was the 50th annual fair, I have my suspicions that it may have been even busier than usual. The fair took place over 4 days and 6 big warehouses. I felt as though I walked for miles, and I probably did. Maybe its all a ploy to keep Illustrators fit and healthy?  This year's guest country was Sweden and there was a small exhibition of Swedish Illustrators. I ended up buying the accompanying Illustrators index - one pricey book, but definitely worth it. The fair was a real eye opener into the larger world of children's books and illustration. Book of Hopes

It's been a while since my last blog post.. I used to love reading blog posts and forums, if you're reading this, hello! 👋 I wanted to share a lovely project I was lucky to work on last year. I created a black and white illustration titled 'Stargazing' for the Book of Hopes, a collection of stories and illustrations on the theme of hope, edited by Katherine Rundell and published by Bloomsbury in answer to the pandemic, with proceeds going to the NHS Charities Together. The book provides words and pictures to comfort, inspire and entertain children. The ebook is available to read for free on the Literacy Trust website. The Book of Hopes 'Stargazing' I loved working on this illustration, not only as a welcome distraction in a worrying time, but also to find a home for a little character which had been popping up in my sketchbook for a while.
